Keshav Madhav of Delhi-based Vidur and Co is leveraging on the company’s service reputation to make its mark in corporate reselling.

A dedicated service pro viding company, Vidur and Co’s success can be gauged by the fact that the company, which was started with just Rs 10 lakh, posted a turnover of Rs 25 crore in 2002-03. "Our motto to always provide good post-sales service to our customers has held us in good stead," remarks Keshav Madhav, CEO of the company.

Today, Vidur is the sole service provider for Samsung keyboards and monitors in the capital city. With such a prestigious account in its kitty, it is targeting a turnover of Rs 30 crore by this fiscal-end. After diversifying into distribution, it is now training its sights on corporate reselling as well. But service still remains the prime focus on the company.

VISION TURNS TO REALITY
When Keshav founded Vidur, he had his target clear—to become a top-notch service provider. But to set a base in the market, he started distributing APC’s and Alcatel’s range of products.

Vidur shifted to IT reselling and associated itself with Samsung, HP and Microsoft, within two years. HP and Samsung elevated its reseller status and it is currently sub-disty for HP and a national disty for Samsung’s high-end products.

Making customer service the focal point of his company, Keshav ensured that all practices are ethical and honest. "You will not find a single product being sold without a bill in Vidur," states he. In an atmosphere where piracy is rife and service is just another word, this approach has helped Vidur get and retain good customers.

LEARNING FROM MISTAKES
Keshav makes no bones about the fact that he made mistakes in this business. However, he has used these errors as a stepping stones to success. Keshav feels that expertise is required to start any kind of business. "Prior to Vidur, I was hardly associated with IT. But now, I know the intricacies of this field,"remarks he.

Keshav always believes that a satisfied customer is the most valuable business asset. "No matter what we do, our focus will always be on services," remarks he.

The company’s revenue took a slight dip in FY 2003 due to its restructuring process. "We revamped our product portfolio, dropping all non-IT goods. However, this has not affected our bottomline," states Keshav.

Looking for new grounds, Keshav is eyeing the branded PC market. "We will leverage on our services strength to sell branded PCs to the corporate segment," comments he.
