‘Customer-first’ approach always succeeds |
BEGINNING FROM SCRATCH
Armed with a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications, Deekshith joined Unicorp, heading the southern region sales and marketing activities. It was here that Deekhshith got in touch with Compaq, a relationship that was slated to last longer. Soon, he realized that he had all the requisite skillsets to start his own venture and this was how OSS Technologies was born in 1998.
Starting with an initial investment of Rs 10 lakh, the company initially focused on providing end-to-end Compaq solutions. It was only after a year of operations that Deekshith decided to bring in other brands under the product portfolio.
In its first year itself, the company posted a revenue of Rs 9 crore, and has maintained a growth rate of 40 to 50% every year.
In 2002-03, the company registered a turnover of Rs 23 crore, a 40% growth to the previous fiscal.
THE GROWTH MANTRA
Deekshith strongly believes a company’s relationship with customers goes a long way in satisfying its business objectives.

Hence, he ensures that OSS has a customer-oriented team, with extensive knowledge in technology, sales, marketing and international business.
According to Deekshith, it is this ‘customer-first’ mindset that has helped OSS Technologies sustain during testing times. At the time of the HP-Compaq merger, several other Compaq partners posted negative revenue, as customers held back their purchase decisions. But OSS achieved a record growth of 20%, thanks to its close relationship with customers.
SOFT MOVE, SMART MOVE
After achieving recognition in the network integration field, Deekshith decided to make inroads into the software world. He launched OSS Development Center in 2001 with a twin objective —to automate the internal processes of OSS Technologies and to offer a scaled version of the same software to the public.
The center rolled out its first help-desk product called ´Trackit´. The center also developed an online order processing solution for automating internal processes, targetting SME as well as SOHO users.
BEYOND THE HORIZON
Deekshith´s philosophy, leadership and experience are steering the company towards a bright future. He has a clear picture of the company’s roadmap at the back of his mind.
He now wants to seek newer markets and plans to open branch offices in Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai by the end of next year. However, his immediate focus is to position OSS Technologies prominently in the managed service market.
In line with this, Deekshith is evaluating business opportunities in the Dubai market.
