Transtek Infoways : Towards Upcountry

Despite a negative growth of six percent, Transtek is looking forward to penetrating B and C-class cities and strengthen its presence there

Thursday, September 18, 2008

For a Delhi-based distribution company, Transtek Infoways growth in the last fiscal came in largely due to its new distribution tie-up for brands like Kingston and Genius. With peripherals including pen drives and graphic cards witnessing the maximum sales, the company registered a negative turnover of Rs 113 crore, down from Rs 120 crore in 2006-07.

Transtek distributes Kingston, Genius, Lacie, XFree and Fujitsu products. Besides in the previous fiscal, the company was also appointed by MSI, manufacturers of high-quality motherboards, graphic cards as one of its distributor in India.

Other reasons that led to the company's growth were expansion in upcountry locations. In order to improve its logistics, Transtek has already opened branches in Jaipur and Coimbatore along with sales office in Lucknow.

This fiscal, the company will continue expanding in the B and C-class cities like Ambala, Agra and Panipat in the North. South remained the top performing region for Transtek this fiscal with about 35 percent of the business pouring from the region. The contribution of Northern region was close to 28 percent whereas West registered 22 percent revenue figures. East accounted for about 15 percent of the revenue share. Therefore, this fiscal the company will be aiming at penetrating further in eastern cities including that of Guwahati.

Fiscal 2007-08 also witnessed the company expanding its presence in Rajasthan by opening a new branch office in Jaipur. This new branch that caters to the whole of Rajasthan majorly focuses on Genius products. Besides increasing its channel partner network in Rajasthan. The company currently has 11 offices spread across the country.

Having embarked in 2004, Transtek has come a long way and has successfully carved a place for itself in the IT industry. The company has laid greater emphasis on starting with limited range of products and thereby consolidating on them. This strategy has helped the company in registering a reasonable growth figure even as it is targeting 10-20 percent growth figure for the coming fiscal.

Highlights

  • Opened branches in Jaipur and Coimbatore as well as a sales office in Lucknow
  • Appointed national distributor for MSI
