Retail has been the primary contributor for Compage Computer's growth in the
last couple of years. However considering the importance of channel, the company
aims to increase the contribution from dealers this year. Though Compage
Computers posted a 5 percent growth during the FY 2007-08, when compared to the
30 percent growth in FY 2006-07, its bottomline was steady. It focused more on
the bottomline than the topline, which is why its actual growth didn't reflect
in the revenue of Rs 155 crore that it posted during FY 2007-08. Incidentally
Compage was the only distributor from Andhra Pradesh to make it into the Silver
Club this year. Compage opened four new showrooms across the state during the
last fiscal, taking the total number of its outlets to nine. Retail business
contributed around 75 percent to the total turnover of Compage.
