7.Neoteric Infomatique :Donning The Enterprise Garb

Neoteric Infomatique signed up with HP, which gave life to its aspirations of becoming a value-added disti offering enterprise-level solutions

Mumbai-based Neoteric Infomatique has been trying very hard to move away from its image as a distributor for components. Last fiscal, it got a big break when it signed up with HP for the distribution of PCs, servers, notebooks, and backup storage like tape drives and libraries. The next step-up was a tie-up with Wipro to facilitate distribution of notebooks, desktops and servers.

The flurry of tie-ups continued with the alliance with Brother International for distribution of its inkjet and laser MFPs. Brother, which was earlier distributing through the office automation and SI channel, tied-up with Neoteric to cater to the consumer market. Neoteric also signed up Lenovo for distribution in Gujarat. It also began shipping Wipro PCs and servers to the consumer and commercial channel.

Last fiscal, Neoteric took this basket of offerings and finally made headway into the solution provider and system integrator segment. It is now seeking more vendors to sign- up with which will provide it with all blocks of enterprise solutions-networking, servers, online storage, security and software. This is why the company was recently signed up as the national distributor of Avocent, which is a large vendor of KVM switches worldwide.

The company also created a division to work with large-format retailers and has signed up with nearly 25 LFRs, directly or as a fulfillment partner for its vendors.

With acquisitions and participation in stake-holdings of other national distributors, speculation has been on about Neoteric seeking a strategic partner as well. The distribution house would like to have a partner that would help it take its business overseas, but nothing was finalized last fiscal.
