Dropped two brands - Mercury and Gigabyte, but achieved a 17 percent growth with a major chunk coming in from Samsung business

Savex Computers reported a growth of 17 percent with its revenue growing from Rs 254 to Rs 296 crore. This moderate growth was achieved despite the company dropping distribution of two companies viz - Mercury and Gigabyte. According to the company, it really did not contribute significantly to the total revenue. Similar was the case of Gigabyte, for which Savex was a distributor for its peripherals excluding motherboards.

The highlight of the year in review was the focus on Samung's TFT monitors product line. Of the Rs 296 crore total revenue, almost Rs 250 crore came from Samsung business alone. However, by the end of the fiscal, Savex signed up HP, which is expected to make a significant contribution to the total revenue in the current financial year. The company hopes to make a growth of around 40 percent. Savex has signed up HP for the products under the PSG (Personal Systems Group), which includes the Presario range of desktops and notebooks.

Another highlight of the year was the inclusion of Logitech as a principal vendor. With this arrangement Savex distributes its newly launched S and X series speakers, apart from the keyboards and mice.

One of the annual highlight of Savex computers is its relation building program called the Savex Masti. The year 2005-06 saw an addition of 10 channel partners for this program, which is a tour to an exotic location outside India for key performing channel partners. According to officials in Savex, the company will continue to tweak its popular Masti scheme to accommodate more number of partners in the future. Around 75 partners were taken to Bejing and Shanghai as part of the program in 2005-06.

During the year, company added three more branches in each region across the company taking the total up to 30 from 27 branches last year. Similarly, there was an increase in its total number of channel partner enlisted in their roles from 2,400 to 3,000. With additions of the new principal vendors, the company also added its employee to total 200 from 160.

For the future, the company does not intend to add any more brands, but hopes to strengthen its existing relations. A lot of focus will be given on the new HP business that it has signed up. Eventually, it also intends to take up distribution of HP's mobile accessories business.

Plans also include expanding its presence to reach more number of cites by way of setting up branch offices.
