CHALLLENGES

Orient Technologies has been a solution provider with consistent growth of around 25% since the time they switched over business from box pushing to solution providing. The company embraced solutions selling in 2001 after about a decade of reselling business.

The last two years put Orient Technologies in the top gear with a growth of 33% and 43% for year 2003-04 and year 2004-05 respectively. The company closed the year 2004-05 with revenue of Rs 40 crore.

The decision to drop reselling during the worldwide slowdown and take up solution providing was a tough one, but not the wrong one. The solutions business has helped the company close the year with a bottomline of over 30%.

With around 275 employees and six offices in the metros of the country, Orient is a well-organized company with clear focus on what it does. It has created five divisions within the organization, viz.: PSG (Personal Systems Group), ESG (Enterprise Systems Group), Networking Group, ESG (Enterprise Software Group) and ISG (IT Services Group).

The company offers a complete plethora of IT solutions starting from Intel server, enterprise servers, mail management, Citrix solutions, AMC, facility management, WAN & LAN services. But the Orient is more known for its storage solutions expertise woven with offering from IBM Tivoli, BrightStor, Veritas, Tandberg Data, HP, IBM and NetApp.

The company has some big names to its credit as its customers, such as: JP Morgan, Larsen & Toubro, Lucent Technologies, MTV India, Philips, Pidilite, Supreme Telecommunications, Symantec, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Tata Internet Services, NABARD, State Bank of India and Swiss Bank Corporation among many others.
