For Apara Enterprise Solutions, the fiscal 2004-05 was a mixed bag of
benefits and losses. With the company clocking Rs 89 crore in terms of total
revenues, this was a marginal drop over the previous year's revenues of Rs 90
crore. However, it managed business tie-ups for brands and technologies with the
likes of Decru, Ironport, Storagetek and Mirapoint.
Although total revenues indicated a slight drop in the last fiscal, the new
tie-ups undertaken seem to be very vital for business improvement. In keeping
with the business-improvement model, Apara decided to discontinue its existing
alliance with Quantum and instead chose to align with what it felt was a more
strategic technology partner like Storagetek.
Of the total revenue that the company clocked in the last fiscal, Netapp
(55%), Hitachi (15%) and Juniper (10%) were top most selling brands for the
company. Nearly 10% of Apara's revenues in the last fiscal were contributed by
services alone. The solution provider meanwhile also continued to focus on three
core technology areas of storage, security and networking and took up some
relevant projects in this direction.
In a bid to expand, Apara last year opened two new offices and recruited 40
people to bring its current manpower strength of 150 and invested Rs 60 lakh
into training its manpower.
Tie-ups with more strategically relevant partners seemed to be the buzzword
for Apara. This was a move to generate more revenue. Selling a solution to
partners looking for one that Apara provided for its customers seemed to benefit
the company in a big way.
In lieu of expanding business, Apara had to its credit some very big wins in
terms of enterprise installations. Some notable projects it worked on were for
Rediff, Yahoo, Malayalam Manorama, ICICI, Reliance and VSNL.
In recognition of its work to provide amicable solutions to its customers,
Apara has obtained new certifications from various companies like Juniper,
Netscreen, Netapp, Hitachi, Veritas, Storagetek and Ironport.
With an eye to address the global market and also enhance its brandshare in
the domestic market, Apara achieved some significant milestones last fiscal. It
built services and practices on security, storage and networking. The company
also worked on various other projects within the domestic arena.
