CHALLLENGES
l To establish itself nationally
l Missed the government business

One of the giants of IT channel partners from East, Supertron Electronics maintained its growth path that it had in the last fiscal 2003-04. The growth (18%) although was not very significant, it helped the company pose a total agency revenue of Rs 139 crore this time in contrast to its Rs 120 crore in 2003–04.

The company had managed a growth of 13% in 2003-2004. A feature similar to that of last year was that the disty garnered a remarkable bottomline, despite the mediocre growth that it achieved in this fiscal.

One of the key products, which helped the company maintain its solid bottomline, is its tie-up with Dazzle range of products as their national distributor. The vendor provides entertainment products like TV and video creators.

The disty also launched its own brand of USB products in the name of Supercomp. Simultaneously, the company strengthened its base in Vintron range of PCs. Supertron also increased its solid base of distribution business across the country through its 15 branches spread allover India.

A commendable advancement that this company had was that it was chosen the national distributor of Acer's TFT and CRT monitors and DLP projectors. Earlier Supertron was present only in the east India market for Acer products. Meanwhile, Supertron Electronics has also bagged the national distribution rights of Twin Mos Technologies for their memory modules.

The disty is also an authorized service center for Vintron PCs, Acer's products, Mercury's entire range and Canon's printers and scanners. Other hardware services that it offers are installation of OS, preventive and corrective maintenance, trouble shooting, diagnostic tests/ analysis and replacement of spares wherever under comprehensive maintenance.

Of its Rs 139 crore revenue, 80% came from channel partners, 3% from government sector, 5% from large enterprises and 10% through SOHO. Recently Supertron opened a branch office in Patna, which is scheduled to be fully operational from the end of September of the current year.

Supertron acquired exclusive rights for marketing and manufacturing Vintron PCs in the country. It had taken over this once-popular brand and brought into its fold its PC manufacturing line, significant marketing personnel as well as the ownership of the Vintron brand. Till now, the company has been keen on positioning its own brand of Supercomp PCs more in the eastern market, while the northern market has been targeted with the Vintron brand. Result: it recently bagged an order worth Rs 1.8 crore for its Vintron brand of PCs from various engineering and IT colleges in Uttranchal and Uttar Pradesh.
