Having 30 dedicated workstations along with 20 computer variants, the LAN operates on parallel network configuration. Also, there is a CTCL server installed for the workgroup domain and a back-office server catering to the same domain relating it to the host network.

Valued at Rs 50 lakh (2007-08), the entire set is made on the model of the 'Dual Check Connection' in the delimiting zone with Juniper firewall filtering web content. Broadly, the network is divided into two parts-the stock broking network with limited access and the Internet trading network with administrator rights.

For security reasons and to prevent data leakages using original licenses across domains, the LAN is always kept segregated from the main server.

To boost up prevention of data leakages in accordance to AAC rules, Cyberoam UTM security solutions have been installed providing bandwidth management and access control apart from the conventional types of network security.

IT infrastructure for 2009
Realizing the volatility of the stock broking market and requirements in the NSE, the company is keen on implementing the TAP configuration prescribed by NSE to keep it's operations at par with the dynamic stock exchange. The company is also on the move for expanding its data backup and storage capacities with the latest offering from HP. Also, the company will soon be expanding the back-drive capacity.

Current system suppliers
Presently, SFSL has ODC as it's system supplier and network solution provider, and Lotte Computers for servicing for HP and Dell including most of the hardware.

Desired qualities in a supplier
In the first place, SFSL looks for the product variety and quality of the IT merchandise. Special care is given on the packaging front, checking all the specifications and licensing terms before the final purchase decision is made.

Relying on information over the Internet, the company always looks for competitive price advantage when selecting its products and the combination. Also, the company takes into account the support system the supplier has.
