To whom do solutions providers go when they need to deploy IT for their internal needs?

Company
BCS Infotech

Location
Erode

Profile
Started in 1992, The BCS Group has five independently functioning companies. These include the BCS Training Academy, BCS Hardware Division, Shivashankar Computers, BCS Maintenance Division and BCS Infotech.

The group offers solutions and looks into the needs of both single computer home users, as well as corporate clients like colleges, hospitals and banks. BCS Hardware Division is the flagship company of the BCS group. This company takes care of computer and peripherals sales activities. It also looks after the supply of computer systems, computer notebooks, inkjet and laser printers, scanners, all-in-one machines, digital cameras and peripherals. BCS Hardware Division is now all set to appoint a distribution channel for its handheld printers and vehicle tracking devices for the ITeS sector. BCS has business partnerships with leading vendors of computer hardware, software and peripherals. These include Intel, Seagate, Epson, HP, Tally, Acer, eSys and TVS-E.

Current IT infrastructure of the company
As a company that sells different kinds of IT products and solutions, the BCS group has ensured that all of its offices have the much-needed IT infrastructure for smooth running of its operations. This includes PCs, networking equipment, servers and the like, which enables interconnectivity between offices. Currently, there is a well-trained team of about 20 service engineers and five sales executives working with BCS, and another seven-member team takes care of the accounts and office administration.

C Balakrishnan
CEO, BCS Group

Proposed IT infrastructure for 2007
Adding on and improvising the IT infrastructure is what BCS regularly does. Additionally, from this year onwards, the company is looking to add more value to its services by providing its customers a unique offering called 'Care Pack', wherein customers would be able to get 24x7 service.

Current systems suppliers
Redington India, Ingram Micro, eSys Information, Rashi Peripherals, Compuage, Neoteric Informatique, Mtek International, Fortune Marketing and Cyberstar Infocom.

Qualities they look for in their supplier
BCS believes that its suppliers should allow them to earn a reasonable margin, without which, running a service team is very difficult. Their suppliers should provide them with the necessary training on handling products and should offer excellent service support. We feel that the suppliers
on a priority basis should handle issues like DoA, free offers, complimentary offers, pending payments and incentives.
