Profile
Sharath Technologies started as a proprietary concern in 1991. The company manufactures and supplies pressed components. Over a period of time, it has grown multi-fold and ventured into assembling components; it has carved a niche for itself by supplying quality products and sticking to delivery schedules. Customers that Sharath Technologies caters to include, GE Power Controls, Premier Instruments and Controls, Lucas, TVS and Multilink. The company’s turnover in the last fiscal was Rs 130 lakh. On anvil for the coming fiscal is a turnover of Rs 350 lakh.

Current IT infrastructure of the company
Sharath Technologies currently uses Tally for accounting and some Excel formats for production, quality and storing data. The company’s infrastructure facilities include machinery and equipment along with state-of-the-art measuring instruments to monitor and control various processes.

Proposed IT infrastructure for 2007
In the coming fiscal, Sharath Technologies proposes to completely connect with LAN and provide efficient workstations to all departments like finance, production, stores and quality. A separate centralized database center would be created with all necessary security incorporated. It would also have SAP B1 ERP running in all the above-mentioned departments.

As a first step, Sharath Technologies will implement SAP Business One to more effectively manage operations and the growth of its business. The solution, which will streamline the company’s entire business operations with a single solution, will be implemented by FAST Consulting. FAST will implement the solution, which will enhance capabilities in financial accounting, inventory management, MRP and sales opportunities. FAST expects the solution to be deployed by the second week of June.

Current systems suppliers
While the software supplier is Tally, the hardware will be provided by a host of local vendors.

Qualities they look for in a supplier
Sharath Technologies looks for simple, easy to learn and scalable solutions. So their suppliers must maintain delivery schedules, have clear documentation of all processes, follow all quality standards and provide internal quality testing reports.
