Bihar IT Association (BITA) is all set to conduct the first IT fair to be
held in Bihar. It will be held from May 30 to June 2 between 12am to 8pm at
Gandhi Maidan, Patna. Spread across an area of 20,000sq ft, the expo has a dome
shaped structure and is fully air-conditioned.
Nitish Kumar, CM, Bihar will be inaugurating the event and Anil Kumar, IT
Minister, Bihar will be the Chairman of the event. The closing ceremony will be
attended by Ramkrishnan Suryabhan Gavai, Governor, Bihar.
The four-day event is being organized to provide a platform to IT industry
professionals for business transactions, product launches and marketing in
Bihar.
According to PK Sinha, Treasurer, BITA, the event will create awareness about
the government IT policies and IT industry among the public.
“The Government of Bihar has ambitious plans to develop IT and ITeS sector
in Bihar. The State Government wants to foster IT-enabled growth in Bihar. With
a view to make Bihar a preferred destination for IT business and industry, the
State Government has decided to offer special incentives to attract them to the
State,” noted Sinha.
Talking further about the event, he said that during the four-day expo,
seminars on IT and its utilities will be held, followed by career counseling
sessions.
Around Rs 35 lakh is being spent on the preparation for the expo. When asked
Sinha about what is the returns expected out of the fair he said, “We are not
organizing the expo to generate profit. The purpose is to make people aware
about IT products and its usage. It is about mass awareness. The expo will bring
IT to grassroot level. Apart from this, it will make people aware about the
several e-government projects we are doing.”
Vendors participating in the expo are Microsoft, Acer, Lenovo, Epson, Venus,
